Now it's time to talk about the double edged sword of using a celebrity in these companies' ads. When a company uses an unknown but successful dieter the public will never know if that person gained all the weight back or gasp! even more weight back. When you are dealing with a celebrity people will notice if they gain any weight at all. This happened with Kristy Alley when she lost all her weight on Jenny Craig and by the next year she had gained all her weight and more back. Check out the link below to see how that turned out.
Many claim that a so called parade of celebrites is just a method of distraction. If a past celebrity on the plan gains their weight back then we won't notice because the newest celebrity will capture our interest. I for one would and do notice. We have to be consistant and make a life style change to lose and keep weight off and this just goes to show us that even celebrites are people too.
Thanks for Reading, I've enjoyed taking this class with everyone.

I agree with your observations. I am guilty of seeing these celebrities and thinking that they have found the secret. It's no secret. They are just "normal" people too. The only thing that can take the weight off and keep it off is diet and exercise. A lifestyle change is the only answer. Another thing to consider is that celebrities have access to the best personal trainers. The average person doesn't have the time or resources to dedicate to that lifestyle. I think that is also a contributing factor to the celebs gaining the weight back. They crash diet and work out like crazy. Sure the weight comes off but it doesn't always stay off.
ReplyDeleteI couldn't agree with you more! Why don't people want to lose weight for themselves and not because the celebrities are doing it? Looking at the picture of Oprah...I've never seen her that skinny. There must be some computer help with that picture. I think that's another way to get people to think the program works!
