TrimSpa in trouble after Smith's death!
Seems that sometimes using a celebrity spokesperson can backfire on a company. Anna Nicole Smith rose to fame as the "Guess" model and seemed to fade away. The E! started airing The Anna Nicole show and we meet the new heavier train wreck that most people remember. I wish I could say that I did not watch the show but I try to save my lies for more important things!
Then the TrimSpa commercials started and we see the new thin Anna Nicole and it did not seem to matter to the masses that she could barely string the words "TrimSpa Baby" together. To see one of the commercials just follow the link I provided.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u9oMEfFlmYQRight after Smith came on board, TrimSpa sales ballooned 172 percent to $43 million in 2004 from close to $16 million in the year earlier. So what's the problem you may ask? When you mention TrimSpa, the image that came to mind was Anna Nicole Smith. Now when you think of TrimSpa you think of Anna Nicole dying and many people were not able to separate the two leaving TrimSpa scrambling to restage and relauch their brand. Maybe they shouldn't have put all their pills in one basket?

I can't say I remebered TrimSpa until you wrote this blog. It's common for large companies to use celebrities to promote their products, unfortunately, once the celebrity dies, so do sales of the product. Some people, even though they know the real reason as to what killed Anna Nicole, won't buy the product simply because she's not here to use it anymore and they have no one to look at for inspiration.
ReplyDeleteI am always really leery of any product that promotes rapid weight loss in a short amount of time. What people don't seem to realize is that losing weight too quickly can cause all kinds of physical problems. Also, you should let your family doctor know that you want to lose weight so that she can monitor your progress. I admit the "lose weight quick" promos are very tempting, but I will stick with my Weight Watchers. Granted, you lose the weight more slowly, but you are forced to pay attention to what you're putting in your body. The Weight Watchers system makes you accountable for you.
